    The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken several steps to end ragging in the higher education institutions of the country. Under this, the Commission is organizing a National Level Film Making Competition 2017 for universities to increase awareness among students against ragging. By making intrinsic evaluation of such films, the best three entries have to be sent to the UGC for participation in the national competition. The film can be in the form of a documentary or fiction of five to ten minutes.

    The UGC Expert Committee will choose the best three from the entries. In the form of first, second and third prize, Rs five lakh, three lakh and two lakh rupees will be given respectively. The selected films will be the property of the UGC. It will be uploaded on the UGC website. The filmmaker will also be given credit.

    At present, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken a unique step in this regard, under which all the universities and colleges of the country have been asked to make ragging awareness films. Not only this, the UGC has also announced a reward for institutes that make good films.

    The UGC has taken this step at a time when ragging remains a major problem for universities and higher education institutions. The UGC is showing even more vigilance since the Supreme Court has seen the strictness of this matter in the last days.

    Last Date : UGC has asked every university to send its films through pen drive or DVD till November 30, 2017


    Eligibility Criteria for UGC National level Film Making Competition 2017 :

    (**) UGC has not fixed any eligibility criteria to participate in National Fil Making Competition.

    (**) The candidates from University Departments and affiliated colleges can submit their entries for competition.


    UGC National level Film Making Competition 2017 Award :

    In this regard, the UGC has clarified in the letter sent to all the universities across the country that during this period, three best films will be selected at the national level.

    => The best film will be awarded with Rs. 5 Lacs.

    => Second prize winning Fill will get Rs. 3 Lacs.

    => Third place winning movie will be given Rs. 2 Lacs.

    => Also the college or university preparing the film will also be given credit during its film performance.


    Application Process for UGC National level Film Making Competition 2017

    ~@~> UGC has asked every university to send its films through pen drive or DVD till November 30.

    ~@~> The UGC has already given several instructions to the universities and colleges to deal with ragging.

    ~@~> The submission of film could be done by the university to the UGC on behalf of students.

    ~@~> The submitting films may be documentary or fiction films.

    ~@~> The film could be of 5 to 10 minutes duration.

    ~@~> Only three selected films from each university will be included in the competition.
