    One of the initiatives is started by the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development with naming ‘Scholarship Scheme to students from Non-Hindi speaking States for Post Matric studies in Hindi’. The main aim of this scheme is to endorse the study of Hindi in non-Hindi speaking states and to give the appropriate employees for teaching and other posts, where the knowledge of Hindi is important and necessary.

    Scholarship Scheme to students from Non-Hindi speaking States for Post Matric studies in Hindi shall be provided to the students from Class 11 to Ph.D level for the following recognized full time courses for study of Hindi as one of the subject based on the result of exam. next below conducted by the Board of Education/University/recognized Voluntary Hindi Organization.

    =a> Pre-University/Intermediate and equivalent Examinations: On the basis of Matriculation; SSLC or an equivalent Examinations.

    =b> First Degree (Pass and Honours) Courses: On the basis of PUC Examination, Higher Secondary Examination, Indian School Certificate Examination and Intermediate or an equivalent Examination.

    =c>
    M.A. (Hindi): On the basis of B.A. B.Sc/B.Com (pass or Honours) or an equivalent Examinations.

    =d> Pre-Ph.D/M.Litt. (Hindi): On the basis of M.A. (Hindi) Examination or an equivalent Examination.

    =e> Ph.D. (Hindi): On the basis of the qualification leading to the admission to the Ph.D. Degree.

    =f> Full time courses in Hindi for which examinations are conducted by Hindi Voluntary Organisations engaged in the propagation of Hindi or by Universities provided these examinations are recognised as equivalent to Intermediate or above


    Eligibility Criteria for Post Matric Scholarship in Hindi to Students from Non-Hindi speaking States:

    <1> The applicants whose parental language is not Hindi and who belongs to given below Non-Hindi speaking states or UT are eligible for the scholarship scheme.

    Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Orissa, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamilnadu, Tripura, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Dadar Nagar Haveli, Goa, Daman & Diu, Lakshdweep, Mizoram and Pondicherry.

    <2> The scholarship will be awarded to the candidates on the basis of result of examination next below organized by Board of university/education/voluntary Hindi Organization and passed in the first attempt.

    <3> The students would secure 60% marks in the qualifying examination to be eligible for the award of scholarship.


    Not eligible for scholarship scheme-

    (a) The candidates who belongs to non-hindi speaking state but living in Hindi speaking state are not entitled to apply for the scholarship scheme.

    (b) The candidates are not eligible if they are in employment (full or part time) in a private or govt. organization until they are sponsored by the State Govt. /UT administrative.

    © The applicant who desirous to practise their studies through correspondence or privately.

    (d) Candidates who are studying for a Bachelor’s Degree are not eligible to apply for the scholarship if they have not taken Hindi as a subject.

    (e) Candidates who are studying for MA course are not entitle to apply, if they have not taken Hindi as their main subject.


    Rate of Scholarship Scheme:
    ~> Class 11 and Class 12 – Rs. 300/- per month

    ~> B.A/ B.Sc./B.Com (pass/honors) or equivalent exam. – Rs. 500/- per month

    ~> M.A., M.Litt & equivalent courses and Hindi

    Teacher’s Training course/Ph. D - Rs. 1000/- per month


    Selection of Candidates for Post Matric Scholarship in Hindi to Students from Non-Hindi speaking States:

    1. A student will be selected for the scholarship scheme by the non-Hindi speaking state to which the student belongs to.

    2. Only those students will be entitled for the scholarship who have cleared the next below exam with Hindi as a subject or have cleared another exam. in Hindi renowned by the Govt. of India.

    3. Only those students are eligible for scholarship scheme who have cleared the Next below examination in first effort.

    Next Below Examination :- The examination which is the minimum qualification for admission to the course now joined by the candidates.


    Duration of Scholarship Award:

    i> An award will be acceptable for the stage of course for which it is given which is based on the good behaviour and constancy in Attendance.

    ii> The scholarship will be renewed year to year provided that the scholars passes in Hindi subject.

    iii> The duration of scholarship for Ph.D will be two (2) years which is extendable one more year, based on the good progress in research work.


    Payment of Scholarship Scheme:

    {a} The payment of scholarship will be sanctioned for the academic year in the regular monthly installment basis.

    {b} The payment of scholarship will be start from the month of joining to the institution till the month in which the annual examination is completed.

    {c} If the candidate is absent in the course because of illness, the scholarship will be provided by submitting a Medical certificate.


    Procedure for Applying for Scholarship Scheme:
    a> The candidate should submit the application form alongwith the required documents.

    b> The student must ensure that they have applied through the state to which they belongs

    c> The application forms must be submitted by the Non-Hindi speaking States where the applications are submitted by the student.

    d> The authority shall be prescribed by the Non-Hindi Speaking State Govt. from where the student can collect the application form and submit it.

    e> The candidate should submit the application form on the appropriate date prescribed by the Non-Hindi speaking State in the paper.
