To encourage youth for Letter Writing mode, every year International letter writing competition is organized by the Universal Postal Union. 46th UPU Letter Writing Competition is going to be held on 8th January, 2017 (Sunday), 10.11 am to 11.00 am for the students up to the age of 15 years on the theme “ Imagine you are an advisor to the UN Secretary-General which world would you help him tackle first and would you advise him to solve it”. The participants can write a letter in English or in any language specified in 8th Schedule of the Constitution and would be write maximum in 1000 words. The contest will be held in all postal circles and at the headquarters of the enclaves. Last Date : 21st December, 2016 Eligibility Criteria : => The candidates who are interested to participate should be up to the age of 15 years as on 31 March, 2017. => The letter should be in English or in any language specified in 8th Schedule of the Constitution. They are Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Benefits Provided : The winners of UPU Letter Writing Competition National level will get Rs. Five Thousand along with a Certificate and winners of International level will be awarded with Gold Medal National level winners : First Prize : Rs. 5000/-+ Certificate Second Prize : Rs. 3000/-+certificate Third Prize : Rs. 2000/-+ a certificate Consolation Prize : Rs. 1000 to the best entry from each Postal Circle + a Certificate International level winners : First prize : Gold medal Second Prize : Bronze medal Third Prize : Silver medal The winners will also get a certificate and UPU official postage stamp Application process : ó To apply for UPU Letter Writing Competition, the candidates can obtain the application form from the office of Senior Superintendent of Post Offices OR Superintendent of Post Offices in the respective areas. ó On the application form, the candidates have to enter some details like Name, passport size photo, date of Birth, Gender, Father’s name, Name of school/institution, full Postal Address of the school etc. ó For the entry in the examination hall, the participants must hold the Admit Card which will be issued by the Chief Postmaster General/Postmaster General/ School Principal concerned. ó The Roll Number will be allotted by the concerned Chief Postmaster General /Postmaster General/ School Principal. Submission : The school will forward the entries to the Chief Postmaster General of their States for the evaluation. Then the best three entries are to be submitted to the Postal Directorate, New Delhi by the Chief Postmaster General of their States.
